About
I am a research fellow in the Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge research program at Charles Darwin University. My work is broadly in political sociology and the use of social science research methods for policy design, analysis and assessment.
My particular research interests are in community-based natural resource management, water governance and water reform, and environmental advocacy.
I'm currently working on incorporating cultural values in water allocation planning and water management across the tropical river systems of north Australia.
I was previously a research fellow at Griffith University, a lecturer in environmental politics at the University of Queensland, and a senior social scientist in the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Water. In this role, I had responsibility for the co-ordination of social science and economic research, development and extension for improved NRM delivery under the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality. This included the design and delivery of training and capacity-building activities targeted at agency staff and regional NRM bodies.
Currently, I hold a number of external advisory positions, including as an advisor to the Murray-Darling Basin Authority on stakeholder engagement, and a researcher with the Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge Research Hub.
